MAKING A GAME SO BRIGHT IT WON A GOLD ADDY.

A few of my favorite things: Naming, writing custom greeting cards, and mailing spotted dick pudding to strangers.

Joy-O-Matic was a holiday game inspired by slot machines. Each three-of-a-kind spin prompted an IRL gift be snail-mailed to the winner. Really.

I helped develop the concept, named the joy-o-matic, and wrote all copy—for the website, Nine custom greeting cards, a downloadable drinking game and all social media promotions.

I was lucky enough to concept and write for several redpepper self-promo campaigns. This favorite was the agency Christmas contraption, circa 2012 and resulted in 2M+ impressions for the agency in just under 2 weeks.

Scroll to rejoice.

Every spin was a win. Some prompted greeting card or drinking game downloads.

When a player landed three-of-a-kind, we mailed a physical prize to their house —authentically thrifted ugly sweaters, spotted dick pudding in a can, summer sausages, fruitcakes, Santa beard and mustache kits, or picklecicle kits.

I wrote (and our team illustrated) custom greeting cards to pair with each physical gift. Feast your eyes.

We mailed each gift in a clear box. Caused some fuss and extra postage charges, but we made it happen.
